Feast Day: St. Josaphat, Martyr

Today is the feast of St. Josaphat a man born into the Orthodox Church in Lithuania. St. Josaphat later converted to the Latin Rite, joining the Basilian monastery at the age of 24.  He worked tirelessly to end the division, the Great Schism, between the East and the West and to promote and assure unity amongst the Catholics and the supremacy of the papacy.  He was later named Archbishop of Polotsk and died a martyr's death by axe-blow AND bullet-shot at the age of 43.

St. Josaphat, you worked tirelessly and fearlessly to unite the two-halves of the Church and bring unity and accord.  May I, too, do whatever is necessary to assist at the unification of the Church and rebuild the Kingdom for God.  St. Josaphat, pray for us all!
