St. Elizabeth Ann Seton is the first American-born saint canonized by Holy Mother Church. She is patroness of Catholic education and the patroness of our home-education adventures (with St. Athanasius). Her national shrine is in Emmitsburg, Maryland where she founded her congregation and schools ... a wonderful place to visit and pray and learn about this widowed mother who did so much in her relatively short life.
